"I have been coming to the West, mainly the Clifden area, for over 20 years, so I always think of it as my spiritual home; seeing the mountains and the vast blanket bog spread out before me, is truly a breathtaking sight and inspires me to try and capture the natural forms, the textures, the colour that are created by the ever changing light.
So I am drawn to paint the Bog, in its many moods, the mystical past together with the ever-changing demands of the 21st Century, which is forever encroaching on this pure landscape.
The exhibition is dominated by intimate colourful, textural paintings of the blanket bog, together with large landscapes of billowing clouds and majestic mountains; these are the powerful images for me of Connemara.
In the studies on wooden panels, I have felt that the simple still life of everyday objects, the pure simple shapes would complement the texture of the wood. My interiors are reflective romantic images - I am fascinated by the past, those moments of a bygone time."
