Anne Towers
Anne Towers lives in Galway city where she has her pottery studio. She was trained as a painter at St. Martins School of Art and as a teacher at Goldsmiths College, London where she also did a foundation course in ceramics. Only in recent years has she returned once more to working with clay.Anne uses white earthenware clay to make her wheel-thrown pots. Painting with coloured slips and underglaze colours, she creates images of which the subject matter on the outside of the vessel relates to the inside, creating a continuous narrative. Her preferred subjects are derived from landscape, horses and other animals and she is also inspired by many local events and activities.
Her particular style and varied subject matter make her pots ideal for commission work, which she will willingly undertake on almost any topic.
