Columba Corbett
Columba Corbett studied for many years in the Master Class run by painter Kenneth Webb. She has exhibited with the Royal Society of Artists, London, and has participated in the Royal Hibernian Academy summer exhibition on a number of occasions. Columba taught for six years at the Galway Arts Centre. Her paintings hang in several private collections in Ireland, the UK and beyond. The title of Columba's 2004 solo exhibition at The Kenny Gallery, "Lyric Pieces", was borrowed from the work of composer Edouard Grieg. Here, the paintings attempt to explore the underlying design in the beauty and multiplicity of nature, and to represent it in images that are, in some way, allied to lyric poetry, through their colour, pattern and feeling.
